I plan on transferring from a two year school to a four year school, but am wondering if its better to do so for the spring or fall semester? Personally, for me, it all seems too fast being at a two year school one month and being at a four year school the next. I wish I had more time than winter break in between to get ready for it, which is why I'm thinking of waiting until next fall rather than next spring.

if it seems to fast for you, then it is. do what is comfortable.

as far as being at a 2-yr vs. a 4-yr, there is little difference. the main thing that you will find is that, as a transfer student, by the time you get to your 4-yr, social circles will be formed, etc. the transfer classes in the fall are always much larger, and, in general, it will be to your advantage to transfer then, as you will have more of an opportunity to meet people in your shoes. spring isn't bad either, but the transfer classes tend to be smaller. plus, I think due to the weather in the early part of the semester, people tend to be more reclusive and less focused socially, which makes it more difficult to make friends.

in any event, join clubs, orgs, etc. to make friends, and it really won't matter.

If you plan on waiting make sure the classes you'll be taking at your two year school will transfer. If not you'll be wasting time and money.

You can speak to an advisor at the four year school to find out. People actually transfer all the time it doesn't truly matter you just need to find a time you think you'll be most comfortable in transferring.

You are subconciously setting yourself up to quit college due to low self esteem. Don't give into these urges and just go directly to the four year school.
