That contract to build space station was based on merit and lowest price, and not political plum given to good contributers. Believe it was some division of Lockeed Martin, that sent millions down the cannel by using English measuring units instead of Standard American. Go George weward your bumbling followers. Can't wait for first screw-up on Moon and reason to stop project billion went into.

I do pine for the good old days when people seemed to support the space program more. Too bad it was actually intended to show our adversaries that we could blow them up from space as good as they could.

Sure, it would be great to believe that. Unfortunately, we live in the real world. And listen, who hasn't made a mistake. Too bad NASA's mistakes are so visible, like the measuring unit error. But didn't you sit there and watch the images from the Mars Rover with amazement realizing you were seeing live images from another planet? And that project came in under budget because of the cutbacks NASA suffered. Perhaps you need to keep an eye on the current shuttle mission to realize how dedicated the people at NASA are and how they strive for success and take pride in their work. Visit www.nasa.gov and click on NASA TV to watch their work.

That would be nice. When in the military we used to joke that we could go into combat with a weapon built by the lowest bidder, but it wouldn't even be that honest. It would just be the manufacturer that contributed the most to some politician's election fund!
Taxes could be so much lower if all the pork was cut out of the laws they're passing now.

Yeah... can't wait for the first blow up on Mars... that's what we need. How about we take the billions going to the space program and send them to Iraq? Isn't that better than taking the trillions sent to Iraq and spending them in USA?

Why take off all the fat from the hog when you just end up with a skinny pig.

Unfortunately NASA and JPL have got more fat than they need.

They could use a few bulimics in management.
