Steve Irwin, the crocodile legend has died. I just want to know how many people beside Australians have heard of him? Also, any Aussies that would like to comment on him please do. Steve was not only a legend but did so much for animals and the enviroment.

He was certainly well known. He didn't do a lot for animals though. That's a myth. He was just interested in publicizing Steve Irwin. He interfered with the animals of antarctica, as is well known, but not advertised much. In Australia, no Aussie can do wrong! (so the eulogies will start any minute now!)

I did like him, although I did not watch the show very often. It was more like a once in a while thing when I was bored and had nothing better to do than flip to the animal channel. I thought he was interesting, and his accent was cool (I'm from Texas y'all). It's very sad that he died. He was one of the few Aussies I did know about.

well, i just got to know it from you.
my sister says that there was the same rumour some time ago, so this time he's really dead.
i love his TV shows bcos it shows the never seen before encounter of human with animals which is so much better that the other 'crocodile hunter' wannabe TV shows.
it such a great lost to the TV-land.

I didn't agree with the way Steve protrayed us Aussies, but admired him for the work he did putting in the preservation of all wildlife and their environment. He also raised the profile of Australia. My daughters loved his Australia Zoo, and thought it better than any zoo they have visited!
Loved his Crocodile Hunter movie!

sad because his kids are so young
and he died by getting stung by those sting animals
