Does anyone else get depressed because so few people care about improving the world; they don’t understand the value of logic; they don’t understand how to make good decisions; they don’t make valid arguments; they don’t possess wisdom; and they are in charge?

Christians fee good judgment, they're in basic terms no longer constrained by ability of it. The logical ideas can purely draw close what it may decide, yet there is extra to existence and the universe than the finite ideas will ever understand. while guy discovers a sparkling galaxy, they get excited. properly, it became there continuously. It in basic terms took guy centuries to locate it. . The brown cow nevertheless eats green grass and provides white milk. what's logical approximately that? what's logical approximately an unpleasant caterpillar transforming into a appealing butterfly? Why do no longer human beings try this? If a caterpillar can do it, why won't be able to we? we've scientists; they do no longer. Christians have been privileged to locate that there is a supernatural international all around us, and non-believers in basic terms won't be able to see it by using their constrained logical minds.

Just for the sake of the mental exercise, Michael M:
what if logic was a 'curse' that the human race had to live with.. What if evolution works backwards to our understanding, and more evolved creatures are less complex and less rational, more instinctive?

Back to our setting:
- if you get depressed, then you might not be very logical
- if your happiness depends on what others care about, i guess you can never truly achieve happiness
- "good" decisions is a subjective term

While I agree that most people are idiots, I must also admit that this may very well be their perception of me.

So, how do you search for absolutes in the midst of this subjectivity?

:-)

Everything is relative. What may be rational for you could seem irrational to me.So, don't wonder why would someone make a wrong decision while there is always the option of making the right one.Its just that everyone understands the world they live in in a unique and completely subjective way, based on their own experience and rationale. Besides, who could live in a world where everyone think and act the same(even if their actions are completely correct)?

Yes, it can be pretty depressing. The "idiots in charge" can be absolutely maddening in their stubborn illogic. Unfortunately, I see no reason to think that stupidity will be disappearing any time soon.

One answerer responded by saying that we need more creativity and less logic in this world. I can sympathize with that too. Although I sort of feel like one needs to "earn" the right to be illogical by at least trying to be logical about some things in life; or recognizing when it is beneficial to be logical.

There's a place for illogic when it comes to art. Art would be pretty freaking boring if it were all logical. In a sense, art can sometimes make very absurd or even "illogical" statements, yet be very engaging. Often times artists even tend to be somewhat irrational folks in every day life (most of my best friends are artists); but that seems like a benign issue to me given that at least the right side of their brain is doing something interesting or contributing to the betterment of society.

For myself, sometimes i am semi-consciously "illogical". It's kind of an aesthetic experience. Sort of like saying, "Maybe 'truth' doesn't ALWAYS have to be the objective."

Take astrology for example. Rational people normally don't believe in it, but sometimes we "want" to, so we suspend our disbelief--to the point of believing it for a moment--because sometimes it's just more interesting to see things from that angle.

I recognize that a "logical" point of view is more pragmatic for making "intelligent decisions", and very useful if we want to come closer to a certain kind of "truth". I also recognize that Illogical thinking is one of the root causes of many very bad things in this world, and there is a serious deficit of logic in many spheres of human activity, notably in public policy.

Yet there are times when absurdity is more fascinating.

When I hear the word logic, I equate these things:
knowledge, common sense and wisdom. Oh, and Spock. (Sorry, Star trek fan here).
I agree, all are valuable and few seem to possess those traits, especially common sense.

I feel the same. People are led by arguments which are obviously untrue and deceptive but they don't care. Most people operate by emotion not sense. They feel not think.

I feel you man. It saddens me too on why so many of us can't even make logical arguments, let alone think logically.
