I was planning to set up a wireless network. The modem was supposed to be connected to the router and the router will be the one to be connected to the switches to distribute the connection to wireless devices. Is this possible?

yes, the router would have its subnet "talkiing" to the switches and the switches would have seperate subnets "talking" to their respective users. in other words, you must make the switches clients of the router subnet and the users clients of their respective switch subnets ..see manufacturers documentation for instructions on how to set up the router subnet and associated documentation to set up subnets and assign client addresses to the switches
