Fairness is about as hard to find as common sense is!!!!! If common sense was so "common", why do some people lack it?

Fairness equals 50%, split right down the middle. No giving to one side or the other. Giving in to one side over the other would show a bias to the other or favoritism. No matter how good a system is, there will always be someone who can find something wrong with it. Just like the old saying, "They would b*tch if they were hung with a new rope."

Fairness is a new concept and a newer value added to human society during hte last century. Fairness was not one of the results of French Revolution. It is an offshoot of 'justice'. Since the very concept of fairness allows degrees of the concept, it would be only fair not to criticise someone or something which does nto appear to the fair to the evaluator. But as the concept grows, it may be possible to arrive at more exact interpretation of the term. When USA was being colonised, the whites thought they were being fair to the Natives. Now some section of USA society think otherwise. Same is the case in Australia. With society becoming more educated, more egalitarian, more international, more logic based, things will improve. No one should have any doubt that humans are improving. But may take hundreds and thousands of years.

Fair meaning just and honest. In our past society was designed for all men to be created equal by the Declaration of Independence. This document was supposed to translate to some sort of fairness, these days fair is just a word used to represent a festival. I see to many deviations in our dealings with each other to say we are fair minded.

Its pretty fair considering how things were. I only see it getting better and better. Example: Lee Harvey Oswald, he was never actually seen shooting JFK. There was just so many people saying it must've been him so he was taken in and arrested. 30 some years later John Mark Karr appears out of nowhere confessing to the murder of JonBenet Ramsey. During Oswalds time he wouldve been in jail awaiting a death sentence. You can argue that we have technology nowadays that wasnt available at that time but I think its that we're working the bugs out of a system with flaws to make it a more perfect system.

Life is not fair. Otherwise kids would not die of cancer. The world would be more tolerant of differences. The government would actually heed the will of its citizens. Good people would be immune to hurt emotions and physical pain.

Fair is not a reality.

Our society is not fair in any way. Our justice system is only as fair as you can afford, and that is just one example.
