We all die. Those who take extreme risks tempt fate every day. He was noted for this type of behaviour. He seemed a decent enough bloke, but this really was inevitable.

This is very sad. He was living a full life, living his dreams, and had a nice wife and kids... It is so sad. I feel most sorry for his family - they will miss him the most.
I think he was a good guy since he was an animal lover like me. It's so hard to believe I can barely believe it. What a shock. Such a young lively guy. Everyone will miss him.

My family and I visited Steves zoo in July of last year. He was a very nice man. We had the opportunity to speak with him. I agree that he died doing what he loved. But I truly feel sad for his children. His boy will never really remember or know his father and the crazy life he led. It was truly a once in a life time trip for us. My family and I cried when we heard the news. Those of you that have negative things to say I pray that you have at least 1 person to feel loss at your death. Steve had millions including my family.
We are going to send a flower to his zoo to respect and honor him.

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST UNFAIR THINGS GOD HAS DONE NEXT TO Caousto (the ocean evermentalist guy). He was one of the greatest people in the world. He was my hero I wanted to meet him forever, (crying) I will never get that chance. Why must the good die young (well kinda young)

Unfortunately - most people die at a time not of their choosing. In Steve's case - the timing may not have been his, but I don't believe he would have had it any other way.
