My mom was just asking about him 2 days ago, wondering why she doesnt see his shows on tv anymore. And now hes dead!
I dont know what to say. I'm shocked...and sad...

Yes, what a horrible tragedy! My heart just sunk when I found out.
This is a loss to all the world, among numerous talents, and being a new father, he was an important part of teaching people about wildlife they would normally never be in contact with.

Yeh i just heard an hour ago he passed away. His wife Terry doesnt even know yet. I feel so sorry for his family. He died from a stingray stab to the heart and died immediately. He was in Port Douglas at the time in Queensland.
Damn, i dont know what else to say. Im just speechless.

Yep he is dead. died today. Killed by the barb of a stingray. It was just a matter of time before he was to get it. There have been rumors before of his death, but this time the sources are reputable IE ABC news, Reuters, NBC etc.

sadly its not a rumour this time steve irwin died from a stingray
l went to australia zoo in may l do hope they keep it going

I think it was good that he died doing what he loved. I feel for his kids. They do have many shows and a movie to watch to see their dad to know him by. They are so young(3 and 8) they might forget him otherwise.

Oh my GOD, I only just found out !
Man I going to miss him, we used to make fun of him too back in the days with my university friends.... in a good way.

yes and his wife doesn't even know yet! she's trekking in the mountains somewhere and isn't contactable! Its such a shame, what a loss, his poor children.

I am sad that he died and wish him to RIP.
Maybe it's a lesson to others, that if you take risks, one day they will catch up to you.

WOW...I had initially said that I thought someone was pulling your chain, but no......oh wow...It saddens me because I really enjoyed watching him. Wow. That's all I can say right now.......

he'll be forever in my heart..he was so great in his show...life it's just like that..one minute you're happy and enjoying what u love best and the next you're gone...we need to enjoy our days like if they were our last.. :'/
