I was told of the possible causes of the wear of the back tyres in the shop. Some of the answers are in line with the ones I recieved so far. It has been established in the shop that the back tyres need alignment but that there are no provissions for adjustments on the back. I was told that there are provisions for adjustment in the front. The front alignment which has provission for adjustment is ok and there are no wears. The back tyres have so worn that the wires are exposed more on the side behind the driver seat than the passanger. What should I do to get the back tyres aligned. Where are adjustments for tyre alignment done to the back tyres of NISSAN XTERRA? Does it mean that NISSAN XTERRA's back tyres cannot be aligned? What happens in this kind of situation and what are the solutions. This is very frustrating. How do I get to the manufacturers to address this issue in addtion to what all of you are contributing? Thank you. AnietieB

I had that problem on a car. The back wore out in no time I was bying new tires all the time. Came to find out much later. The car was in an accident and the frame was warped. They said it was straightend but they didn't do it right so the whole car was basicly "off track" no alignments or anything else worked. It was like that till I gave it away.

Sounds like one side of the back end is too far forward. They are supposed to dog walk a little, but I think your's is probably way out of line. You are probably seeing chop on your tires. That's when the treat looks like waves on the water. If it's just the inside or outer edge wearing, then that is easily fixed. Just shove the bottom in or out a tad to compensate for the uneven wear. I have a bad feeling, though, that the first problem I mentioned is what's wrong. Take it to a frame shop and they will fix it for you. Good luck.

solid rear axle, has no provision for alignment. if you are having uneven wear patterns, it is due to improper air pressure, or the vehicle was in an accident before you purchased it, and the frame is bent. it is possible for a frame to be bent enough to wear the tires unevenly, and you may not notice it. if you have no legal recourse on who sold you the wrecked vehicle, buy new tires and have them rotated every 15000 miles or more often. then the uneven wear will be distributed among all four tires, rather than just on the backs. take it to a large body shop and have them look at it. it is obvious to a pro if it has been wrecked
