If you are running tap water into the tank I would recommend putting your water condition in right away (so you are not running Chlorinated water for very long without something to remove it and other Chloramine elements).

Well you can just leave it out for a day, or 2 in an open container. Or you can buy any number of products at your local store. Personally I have a pair of buckets I let my water age for a week in.

although the chemicals in tap water dissolve after 48 hours, i would put water conditioner in there just in case and you will also need it for later when you do water changes...also let the tank sit completely set up (filter and all) for about a week without fish in it so all the bacteria and chemical levels can settle..good luck

When I fill my aquarium after I clean it, I have a de-chloride liquid that I put in it that takes the chlorine out of the water. It's very cheap and works great.

it takes 24 hrs but you still have to put a dechlorinator in it you can get it from any pet store I use chlor-x-change it is about $6.00 a bottle but it is super concentrated so only one drop per gallon
