What the hell?! My heart sank when I read it. And yet, I had absolutely no emotional reaction to Europe's crash moon-landing. And how exactly is "Russia remembers deadly school attack" more important than "Steve Irwin killed by stingray"? Steve Irwin was like, practically immortal. Since when is remembering a year-old news story more important than this? Steve Irwin died today! Am I the only one that realizes the grandeur of this freaking story? STEVE. IRWIN.

OMFG!!!!

A while ago a story surfaced saying Steve Irwin was killed in a croc attack. Obviously that story turned out to be a hoax. Perhaps Yahoo is waiting to confirm the story before they make a big deal out of it. If it's true, which I hope it's not, this is very sad news :( I wish the best to his family.

Police have been examining footage of the incident which shows Irwin swimming above the stingray when it lashes out at him. He can then be seen pulling the serrated barb out of his chest before losing consciousness.

Irwin, 44, became famous around the world for his conservationist work and for death-defying close work with dangerous animals, notably crocodiles.

His family is considering releasing the footage of the fatal incident to the public.

Stingrays can deliver horrific, agonising injuries but deaths from the barbs are extremely rare. Irwin's death was only the third known death from the creatures in Australian history.

Police viewing the footage say there is no evidence Irwin had been intimidating the stingray before it struck. He was merely observing the creature.

He was very entertaining, with lots of enthusiam and a great passion for what he did. He loved animals of all kinds. He also cared a great deal about educating the world not only about the different animals but also the dangers each animal species faced in the wild. He wanted to help preserve endangered species.

Mini biography
Steve Irwin was born in 1962 to parents Lyn and Bob Irwin, who were animal naturalists. He has shared the love for animals all his life, stemming from being raised at the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park. There, he partook in daily duties of animal feeding and care. He quickly established himself with the Queenland's government on the process of the country's Crocodile Relocation Program, in which the reptiles could be transferred and relocated to proper localties in the most absolute humane, non-tranquilizing manner. He frequently implements the non-tranquilizing factor in his televison show "Croc Files" (1999). To date, Steve can claim that he has never been bitten by a venomous snake, despite his bare-hand handling of some of the most deadliest snakes in the world. Steve has been married to fellow naturalist, Terri Irwin (Baines) since 1992. She joins him in his adventures and efforts in almost every episode of his show. They have one daughter Bindi Sue Irwin who was born July 24, 1998.

at last, it rather is going to be released. i do belive, even with the reality that it rather is death, Irwin created plenty for the regular public to alter into in love along with his relatives and morals. Now each and every thing has a beginning up, and an end. Unfortunatly this has a tragic ending, that no one interior the regular public will understand approximately for an particularly long term. i think of the least his relatives can do for the regular public , is to launch it, so we are able to all GREIVE mutually. i understand that not ONE guy or woman could chortle or criticize it.

Dude, relax. I have no doubt that Yahoo! will have Steve Irwin in that Featured box tomorrow morning. They are probably working on the layout, interviews, and biography. Plus, they probably want to wait until Terri is informed of his death. She still doesn't know yet.

I know, I just logged on to find Cindy Crawford in her search for a cancer cure and her personal loss as the top story FFS!
Yahoo needs to get its act together, Steve was a brilliant man and this is a huge loss to the entire world, to all the wild life, to environmental education, to his family and friends, to conservation!!
Im sure Cindys story is just fabulous as a super model creates cures for cancer but how it out ranks the loss of The Croc Hunter amazes me!
"Love ya steve"

This seems surreal. I can't believe it. My girls are devastated. I feel sick in the stomach and my heart is so sad for his wife, children, parents, family and friends. God when my daughter told me I was like no way, not Steve Irwin, he knows animals like the back of his hand. What a sad loss to world conservation. I'm still numb actually. I just can't believe it.
