Don't see why not. Are you referring to engraving a cross into the onyx? If that is the case, onyx is a semi-precious stone that due to its makeup, works well for cameo making. However, onyx is also related to the quartz, which, for the most part, is extremely durable. I believe you could engrave a cross into onyx, but if you want to be 100% sure, you might want to check with either a rock club or jeweller.

If you are talking about engraving it, yes you can. But I would have it done professionally. Also, almost any jeweler out there can attach a cross to it as well. For these your best bet would be to find a bead and gemstone jeweler. They are usually small business jewelers but I am sure there is one in your area as this is a growing market. It requires a lot of attention to the stone as certains areas may be brittle. The stone would have to be of a certain thickness and be tumbled/polished for you to engrave it.

im not sure just what you are asking? you can carve one in if you have a diamond tip dremel tool bit and dremel tool. you can glue on a metal one with jewelry cement, is that what you are asking?
