I don't have the problem with swollen tonsils. About 32 years ago ( at the ripe age of 4) I had them taken out. I remember they put me under with a gas mask and the next thing I remember is that I woke up in the hospital bed and the nurse told me that I could have all of the ice cream that I wanted. Guess at that time the Ice Cream kept the swollen down after the surgery.

you can't cure them. as they are the body's first line of defense against most infections and viruses. They are part of the lymph nodes, which all swell at one time or another. Some are more active that others, but they are all over you body, throat, breasts, underarms...you name there is one there.

When they swell it means something is infecting them, like bacteria or viruses. If they do not release the swelling from antibiotics then they need to be cut out, before they swell like a goider.

You can however ease the symptoms with various forms of treatment. Like salt water gargle, I wouldn't use a mouth wash, it's antiseptic enough, but the level of alcohol in it might be enough to hurt. Also, if the tonsils are not too large, try a diet high in garlic.

I swear by witch hazel on the outside and garli on the inside. It might just do the trick. Zinc tablets from the store or foods high in zinc, might help boost your immune system to keep you from getting worse....and vitamin C could help the body bounce back...but again vitamin C is found largely in orange juice and cranberry, but it is high in acid and will burn if the tonsils are imflamed enough to be lightly bleeding.

If the swelling goes down, don't think you are cured another inflamation might occur and be worse, especially with a sinus infection or a lung infection that ends up making you cough.

Large tonsils if they are not giving any problems require no treatment. Unfortunately there is no natural remedy for tonsils that are large. If they are causing recurrent tonsilitis, causing airway difficulty or even just food debris caught in them -> halotosis (tonsiliths) they need to be removed. But if they are just big and no problem then dont remove them

any time we had a sore throat with swollen tonsils we usually gargled with warm salt water, and then used cloraceptic spray, afterwards. but we gargled with the salt water every hour. if that still does not work after about 3 days then you need to go to your physician and may need to have them taken out. if your an adult good luck because it hurts like hell as an adult, i was 27 when i had mine taken out and i wanted to rip my ears off. Good luck and give it a try

I DON'T THINK SWOLLEN TONSILS CAN BE CURED NATURALLY ,HOWEVER I KNOW YOU CAN DECREASE THE PAIN NATURALLY BY GARGLING YOUR THROAT WITH LIME AND SALT OR JUST SOME SALT WATER BUT IF SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH IT APART FROM A REGULAR CAUSE FROM A COLD JUST CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR.
