Why don't you ignore him. He'll soon grow bored with it, and shut up about you. I'd be willing to bet that everyone knows him for who he is, a loud mouth, blow hard, so I wouldn't worry about it.

U could but u have to prove to the court that he's slandering u. If u have witnesses to the account then u can possibly ask them if they are willing to testify in court and the court has to determine what kind of recovery you're entitled to. For example: If his slandering caused u to get fired from your job and u can prove it, the court is entitled to award u damages for that.

Our previous neighbor had gone thru something like this and it was her ex husband badmouthing her and caused her to get kicked out of her apartment but she had witnesses to prove he was slandering her so she filed suit. I don't know if she won or not because I never saw her again.

well you can sue when a person slanders your name but the big problem is most judge's won't hear the case they throe them out of court because they consider it a waste of the courts time. now that's how it is in the state i live in . so before you decide to sue him ask an attorney about how the courts deal with slander suits in your state . it will save you alot of time and money .

To sue someone for slander you have to be able to prove that what they have said has harmed you financially. for example: caused you to loose your job or prevented you from getting one.Or harmed you significantly in the community. For example: got you kicked out of your church or out of the chamber of commerce. You cannot WIN a slander suit based upon his simply embarrassing you.

Why would you bother. He or she is nothing, And the fact that they spend soooo much time doing this to you means they are bored with their lives and are extremely fascinated by yours. Just continue to be you. And ignore all those people. They mean nothing to you. If a true person wants to be friends with you despite your ex friend gossiping then that is all you need. And if no one trys to be friends with. Just always remember it is better to not befriend someone and they hurt you bad, Then to be friends with someone and experience betrayal as you are today,.,,,,Just smile and walk away. No need to feed into their desires, BE YOURSELF< STAND STRONG< BE WONDERFUL AT BEING You....

Probably, depends on what they are saying and to whom.
http://injury-law.freeadvice.com/
and go to slander libel page.
There are requirements and definitions.
depends on what they said and to whom and what damage it causes you - your reputation etc. Then you have to show that what they say is not a fact. Get a alwyer to write a warning letter first and/or ask for an apology.

Only if it is harmful to your buisiness and untrue.
Also to say If this has nothing to do with your ability to provide for yourself by the legal means of the law , GET OVER IT! Pick new friends and MOVE ON!

Theoretically you could file a suit even if he just said "You're dumb" once.
