AH, good old Benjamin Franklin. I did a book report on him in school and learned so much about him I never forgot what an amazing man he was. He doesn't get the publicity he deserves. He made numerous trips across the ocean to England in an effort to smooth things with the king before the war broke out. he later was instrumental in getting the French to assist in defeating the English.
He invented numerous things and never once patented them. They were for the good of the public.
Netfiix has a video about his life portrayed by modern actors in full costume. if you like old Ben, may I suggest you watch that video. "Benjamin Franklin 2002"

Authentic AMERICAN genius - - - - truly a Man for the Times one of the indispensible men of their times - - - and yet while I admire Benjamin Franklin I truly doubt that he would be accepted by the majority of Modern Evangelical Christian Concervatives. Franklin was a 'b a s t a r d' who fathered several b a s t a r d s, he was most definitely a L I B E R A L, he advocated TOLERANCE, he was a Deist, a believer in God not a worshiper of Jesus, he advocated Libraries instead of Bullets and worked to make life better for the 'unwashed' majority through the invention of the Franklin STove and other innovations, in other words most Republicans would run him out of town on a rail. Oh, and a final nail in the coffin, Franklin encouraged Immigration! Yikes.
Peace.

I think he was brilliant and funny and sexy. Sometimes I wish I was born a couple hundred years ago so I could have met him. I do think you meant his tricentennial birthday.

Incredibly forward thinking and inventive man. Probably a fun guy to party with as well from what I have read of his exploits in Paris.

I just saw this really cute Disney short called "My Friend Ben" about how a mouse helped Ben Franklin come up with all his great ideas. It was really cute.
