I LOVED Cuernavaca! You will absolutely fall in love with it.
The hotels are not so nice, but they are acceptable.
The weather is great. If you go in the spring be sure to have an umbrella. They get downpours that last 10 minutes tops but it will soak you. It never lasts long though so it never ruins plans.
You can see Cortez's palace and el centro is very nice. Barba Azul is a great disco to go to. Be sure to try VIPS and molletes! I actually stumbled upon a small pyramid once when I was lost. I do not remember which neighborhood it was, but it was near the mall. There are not a huge amount of tourist attractions, but I was there for 1 year and had plenty to do.
You can take a short bus ride to Teotihuacan and climb up to see a wonderful pyramid. They also have wonderful shops. Taxco (the silver city) is also just a short bus ride away. It is beautiful there. It is also just 1 hour from Mexico City.
The people are very nice. There are many shops and many language schools there. I highly recommend it.

There's nothing really in Cuernavaca, other than swimming pools. Not the best place to visit for a foreign tourist. Most of the people who go to cuernavaca are Mexicans who either are young and go there to party in a house with a pool, or they're old and they go there to rest because of the good weather.

Cuernava is famous for their espanish learning schools for U.S.A people but for tourist Cuernava has almost nothing to offer, the weather is very nice, this time of the year rains at least one time every week.
You can stay in Cuernavaca and go to mexico city.
Mexico for boys has a SIX FLAGS and a thematic park named "city of the boys" for the boys experiencie how to work in a fun way and they can waste the money they win in lots of things.
Near Cuernavaca you can find teotihuacan where you can find a ancient city that had almost 200,000 habitants with piramids.
In mexico city you can find too great malls, cultural places and museums

Its a good place, its called the eternal spring city, but its too crowded, a lot of traffic, and very few 5 star hotels, it is more attractive for people having or renting a weekend house there, with swimming pool, and other amenities, mainly for families enjoying the weather, but the traffic from cuernavaca to Mexico City its all the way from end to end, 60 miles.

It's a beautiful historic city and a good place to study Spanish. There is Cortez's palace, one of the oldest (European) buildings in North America.
