There are certain rules when a foreigner is engaged to a US citizen resident in the USA. If you plan to get married while he is visiting the USA, he might have to apply for a fiance visa (which is difficult and takes an awful long time). It would be advisable for you to read the USA government websites for information, also to speak to an immigration attorney and he should make an appointment soon to see someone at the US consulate in Nigeria for a visa application (there are long queues of people waiting for a visa application appointment - in Ghana it is sometimes booked out for a couple of months at a time) and some more information.
Good luck,
confused

Hey not even Canadians and Americans are having much luck getting marriage visas right now. And I know this isn't what you want to here but my friend married a guy from Nigeria and found out very quickly that he was just wanting the visa. Hopefully he isn't like that but she never would have thought this guy would be either.

Nigeria, as far as I know is not on the list of countries that the USA does not allow in the USA. He should be able, with a Nigerian passport to arrive in the USA. I would check with the email addys here: Please Direct ALL VISA AND AMERICAN CITIZENS SERVICES enquiries to
Abuja (Consularabuja@state.gov), and Lagos (lagoscons2@state.gov)
IF A RUSH, just ask him to check with the US EMBASSY OR MISSION IN LAGOS, or surf this site for answers ......http://usembassy.state.gov/nigeria/...
ALL THE BEST!
