I've found that the first website I listed is really helpful finding gifts. For my 10 year old stepsister I'm going to get her a build-a-bear. You could also give her the gift of horse back riding (either lessons or just one day). She might also like a horse doll or a tshirt with a horse on it. There's a lot of stuff out there and 10 is a good age to find toys or clothes or jewerly.

Depends on the girl, the occasion and the price range, but many girls this age would probably like a gift certificate to a clothing store. Better gifts would be more tailored to the individual's interests: sports equipment? art / crafts supplies? Put yourself in her shoes.

A gift card to like Claires or something. The people who say barbie are completely wrong. Most people nowadays stop liking barbies at age 7.
