I think people in america are getting to be to sensitive, if you took it as a joke let it go. Your dwelling over the situation after the fact and why would you be offended for someone telling you to go back to asia, if thats your culture? If you dont like the attitude of this new guy, dont connect yourself with him.

Yeah that was very rude. I hear stereotypes about black people all the time and sometimes it bothers me and other times I just laugh to myself. You have to look at the person who is talking to you, they are ignorant and not knowledgeable about you or your race. I would keep my distance and conversions short with that person, because the next time he may say something else that might be more offensive than the last comment.

Not only is it disrespectful, the dude was just plain ignorant & probably a bigot.
The fact that he "tried" the derogatory remark under a guise of a joke shows him to be nothing more but a coward.
Do yourself a favor, stay away from men like him. You can do better.

It's not a stereotype. All Asian people do, in some way, originate in Asia. It is offencive to tell you to go back to Asia, though, especially if you weren't even born there. You shoulda told him to...well, you can fill in the profanity-blanks.

he was probably just flirting. It's understood for a long time that America is the land of free-thinking people of all walks of life. The white anglo-saxon male is now in the minority. Fleeting thoughts of superiority are scant and passé. Rest assured that for every one who deigns to hint at retro discrimination is engaging in fleeting moments of absurdity and silliness. If you ask him tomorrow about it, he'll shrug and say, "uh, whatever man."

That's very rude indeed.
It's not a pervasive stereotype though, not really. It's just that this guy that you were talking to is an idiot.
The world is filled with idiots. I just do my best to ignore them.

next time somebody tells you to go back to asia, you tell them to go back to europe. because unless they have a ton of native american blood in them, they are just as new to this country as your ancestors. honestly, why is everyone in america so dumb?
