That is complicated really. I am a teacher and live in Michigan who is among the top 4 in teacher pay. I would think on average that a first year teacher with a BA would be in the 30-40 thousand range. Private schools about half that.

It depends on teh state in which you are working. Where I live now, a beginning teacher can expect to make in the 17k to 20k range a year. Surrounding states can expect in the lower 20s. for a beginning teacher. This is the Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia area.

they start off making crap...my dad is a HS teacher who has been at the same school over 20 years and has his Master's degree and I believe he makes between 50 and 60 thousand.

well...it depends how long you have teaching and what kind of degree do you have. I still rembered...my english teacher told me during this spring that...she has been teaching for about 20 years and her earnings is over $90,000. She got her masters and Phd or somehting. I hope this can help you :)

Not enough. In California they start at around 25K/year, and it takes a LONG LONG LONG time to get up to a decent salary.
