One of just five men in history, and the only one in almost 40 years, to have completed the career Grand Slam of the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open, Agassi retired with few regrets.

One, though - and he has said in the past his biggest regret - was boycotting the Australian Open for a decade before winning on debut in Melbourne in 1995.

It was too far and just not as highly regarded for a long time. And for many years, it was a step below Wimbledon, French Open, and US Open. If you do some digging, you'll see that many players of the generation before did not regularly play this event. It was not as well run, with lesser amenities/facilities, crowds, and less of a tradition. Credit the folks in Melbourne for turning it into a really top-notch venue with a great facility and improved operations.

Being a huge Agassi fan, I find this question intriguing. Not only can I not believe my memory will not serve me on this but any information related to this is either non existent or my search skills have depleted. Great question.

I vaguely remember that he didn't want to travel all the way to Australia since it's so far and in the beginning of the year. It's a shame since we won four of his Grand Slam titles there. He probably could have won more.

He has stated in several interview that he felt it was too long of a flight and too far from home.
