While I do agree that the term 'world' champions is misused, I don't think the Miami Heat being called that has anything to do with Team USA not being able to win the World Championships. Basketball is about more than filling out a roster with talented players. The team must have chemistry. Considering that the Heat have chemistry, it is plausible that they too could have beaten Team USA. All of the Heat players know their roles on the team. Team USA is still trying to figure one another out.

Also, the best of the NBA wasn't there. Melo, Chris Paul, Battier, Howard, Hinrich, & Johnson have never even been NBA All-Stars. Jamison & Bosh are one time NBA All-Stars. Elton Brand & Brad Miller have been twice, but you can't exactly call them perennial all-stars. The only two that can claim elite NBA status are Lebron and Wade.

LOL. precise, the NBA claimed that international champions element in the previous, while the U. S. boast of the perfect basketball gamers there is, yet those days the international has caught up with the U. S. in terms of expertise and team chemistry. I remember in 2010 while then contemporary champion Lakers lost to FC Barcelona, even with the actuality that it became merely an exhibition journey it became sparkling that Lakers have been critically outmatched on the top of the interest and it took the NBA refs stepping in to make it a rather good score. The NBA even with the fact it incredibly is slowly taking that declare decrease back, calling their champion NBA champion rater than international champion. desire this facilitates.

Our best players didn't all play in the Olympics. Do you honestly think we would have lost with Shaq and Kobe added to the mix? SHAQ KOBE & DWANE WADE are unbeatable if you put them together. Their are a lot of other players in the US who didn't play. Besides, some of the players like Dirk and others were playing for different countries in the olympics, and they were beat in the US championship.

ayjay - So you are telling me that Spain or Greece could beat the Heat in a 7 game series. That new rock song came out yesterday, "Get off that meth".

because david stern couldn't get the refs to call a foul when ever wade missed a shot...

or because much like march madness, it's single elimination, so there's always an upset. given a 7 games series, the u.s. would have won.
