What is Wrong with Humanity? We wage Wars for Land, Religion, or the sake of multinational Conglomerates earning Money. We have Predators stalking Children. What is Wrong with the Human Race?

Ethnocentricity is a killer, as is ignorance.

We have problems, but, in order for them to be fixed, people must not only admit to having problems, but also be willing to look for a solution.

I liken it to addiction, or change. If the person involved has no desire to change, then there is no incentive to change at all.

Maybe, instead of asking what is wrong with humanity, you should ask yourself and people close to you how you can improve life for other people. It serves no purpose to just observe problems. Taking initiative and making change is much more productive.

Also, you are part of humanity. You're not above everyone. We're all at fault. We perpetuate dominant ideologies and label people and close ourselves off to new ideas.

Try to think from another person's perspective. Look at local projects you can help with. Don't sit and ask why we are how we are. Find out. Change it.

An interesting question. My answer: humanity itself. We're constantly being influenced by others and whether these influences are good or not depends on a few things. Sometimes the atmosphere can be to blame. If you think about it, the "tough kids" grew up on the "streets." Other than the atmosphere, there are relatives, friends, movies, the media... all of which can contribute to an inhumane society. The media constantly posts updates on murders, predators, wars. Murderers want the attention don't they? And as far as wars, well aren't we sort of creating a small war among ourselves? I mean, some agree to our positioning in Iraq and others are totally opposed to it and protest it. That's a bit of a war isn't it? And some movies promote violence, sex, drugs, et cetera. Movies, I guess, could kind of be like a comercial... advertising one thing or another. Subliminal advertising, really. Maybe even the creators don't know what they're doing... or maybe they do and that's why they rate their films... huh.

So yeah, that's just my opinion. =)

With all the technology and modern times we currently live in, you would think things would be so much better!

We still have prejudice, bigotry against race, sex, sexual orientation, cultural differences, obese persons etc... You would think these things would be a thing of the past, but they seem even more prominent today!

The meaning of family, and even friends doesn't seem to be as it used to be. People just can't seem to relate/get along anymore. There is this lack of trust, compassion, differences between economic classes, commitment and fair weather friends that I feel add to this problem with humanity!

We're all in this human race together, but yet no one wants to stand up for someone else, or help someone less fortunate. The buck gets passed so much, people fall through the cracks and loopholes of our society.

People wonder why that even when we have the right to vote some choose not to... if politicians would actually DO what they were elected to do... I see there's ads on TV now.. I just hate them!!

I do speak from personal experience in dealing with our state representatives... they all seem to have one-two answers... "no" or "As things are I cannot help you..."

These people are in jobs of power, influence & opportunity. To them it's a job/paycheck. I don't want to HEAR what these candidates will do when they get in office... I wana SEE them DO what they said they were going to do when they were campaigning. They say actions speak louder than words!

This has struck me funny... people strive for money... status... whatever. Why can't they put that energy into other things... like the love of a woman... man... family. I think we'd be better off!

=)

I think the uneven progress in the development of some societies has caused a lot of greed and envy. When one social group tries to advance at the expense of another, a lot of prejudice, anger and fear is generated.
Also, in this day and age, many people do not even realize that they may be acting in a warlike manner in their daily lives. Think about this, Do you ever:

exercise your intelligence to the disadvantage of a fellow person?

show disregard for the rights and property of others?

seek to maintain superiority over others?

believe that other people must think or act the way you do?

think that success in life is solely dependent on power, fame and riches?

think that the minds of others should be regulated by force instead of reason?

believe that the god you conceive is the one others must accept?

think that the land of a persons birth must be the place of his livelihood?

The desire for wealth and power seems to have a pretty good grip on humanity these days.
If and When we can ever reach that place where all people will frankly realize their interdependence, then a new understanding will emerge that will make this world , I believe, what it was intended to be.

For evolutionists, I would say we picked up some bad habits from our pre-historic world -- some of which should be purged, toned down or disabled from our DNA, culture to fit the modern world.

For ID supporters, I would say we were not created right / perfect to fit into our current environment. There is always a gap between ideal and reality.

For the rest, I would just point out that, we are just doing what is physically allowed in the world. Some of our brains are not even wired to process conscience, so we would expect a wide range of differences in our behaviors. Chaos theory strikes again -- and that it created some monsters within the pool of our population.

I think it's a combination of several things that I won't even get into.

We are interesting creatures with capabilities unlike anything on this planet. So when you mix it all up you're going to have some serious problems. Intolerance, greed, corruption, addiction, perversion, etc. are just fueling constant problems.

But we do tend to focus on the negative as a society, so you don't get to here about the good that occurs on a daily basis - check out some success stories, possibly that will lighten your mood.

We are greedy, worthless, war mongering, nit wits who prize more what we have than worry about how much we destroy by getting it. Not to mention the fact that many of us don't give two shits about helping the needy because most of them are con artist looking for an easy buck. Don't even get me started on child predators if i had my way every stinking, rapist, molester and multiple murderer would be strung up and beat to death as a warning to all the other perverts. But that's just me. Thanks for letting me vent and have a nice day.

The answer to this question is both complex and simple.....All those who answered there is nothing wrong with humanity are delusional. To make it as simple as possible what is wrong with humanity is that we are cut off from the source of our being or our energy source or many may refer to this as GOD. We have lost our sense of connectedness with all that is...our sense of universal interdependency. the reason for this is that our minds have taken over. Our minds have a strong Ego component which craves identification in physical forms and this is a source of constant suffering for all mankind. I could go on and on here with the core deficiency in mankind but you just have to read Eckhart Tolles' THE POWER OF NOW and things will make a lot more sense to you!!!
Good luck!!! Nameste to you...I will tell you more if you so desire ...email me...my screen name at yahoo dot com

Depending on if you look at it from a liberal or conservative view, it comes from either the people themselves or the institutions we have created. Those subscribing to liberal beliefs generally believe that people are naturally good and they have created institutions meant to help, but were created with flaws unseen by man at the time of creation, which is the source of evil. Conservatives generally believe that people are naturally evil and will do things only for self interest, so the institutions created are like a leash on man to stop us from doing more evil.

Everyone on Earth is selfish, which isn't the problem, but it relates to the problem. There isn't anything wrong with being selfish, in fact it's impossible not to be selfish, but selfishness come in two flavors. There is the selfishness that does good to others, and there is the selfishness that harms others.

The problem with humanity we don't know how to handle our own selfishness. We put people in charge that we have no reason to believe they will make good decisions. We don't understand that value of logic.

We educate ourselves in many areas, but we don't have understanding or wisdom in the most important ones.
