I have a 30 gallon (long tank) and I put about 1 1/2 to 2 inches in mine. I also have a thing that goes under the gravel too. Sorry, I don't know how many pounds it is though.

that depends if you have an under gravel filter. If you don't have that type of filter fill the bottom of tank evenly about 1" deep. If you do have that type of filter place the filter in the tank and then fill in the gravel till you cover the bottom of the tank and filter3/8-1/2 deep over the filter.

The general rule is 1 lb. of substrate per gallon of water. Just make sure you don't use too little, as it's important to build a healthy bio bed and you need enough substrate to be able to do that.

Check with the pet shop. I would say a couple of inches would do.
