Laptops are not good in a way because they are more expensive in maintenance like if the keyboard of you laptop got bad or some of the keys stops working which is generally the case with the laptop computers then you need to replace the whole laptop just due to the keyboard problem and there are many other issues like this. On the other hand desktops are better in a way that you have all the facilities from changing the keyboard to memory up gradation and other issues.
But I still believe that people buy laptops depending on there needs and want. But both are good but the selection depends on the requirement of the user.

DESKTOP HANDS DOWN!!! A desktop is a real computer, a laptop is a portable word processor that subs as a computer. So many people think "oh I can take it with me" but that is what goes with you, the word processor. Speakers, printer, scanners, & everything else stays home. Most people end up buying a wireless mouse & keyboard for a laptop cuz the ones built in are junk. Then a stand to angle it right so the screen is more comfortable & the image is not a white blur. They get super hot, they really do not work on your "lap" that well as the name implies. Why go through the hassle of trying to make something into a computer when you can just get a computer?
If you need a laptop for your job or something, then it is not a question of wanting cuz you need it. If you don't need a laptop then don't get a laptop cuz nobody "wants" one, they need one. Get a wireless keybord & mouse, with a real pc & sit anywhere you want.

For people on the go, definitely, a laptop is preferred but for office use, desktops can carry the workload better and are built for speed. With the introduction of wireless technology, you can bring your laptop or notebook in the malls, in cafes and be constantly connected. For expats who have limited contracts in the country they work in, laptops are much better as they can bring this home when their contract is over.

It totally depends on what you want to be able to do with it, now, and in the future. If you are going to be very active, maybe go to college or travel a lot, a laptop would be best.
A desktop is cheaper and easier to fix though, and getting a laptop repaired costs a lot due to micro-mini parts inside.

Depends on your needs and preferences. If you are going to be using it for school/work and may need it when you're not at home then obviously laptop. If it's just for general use and internet, then desktop is fine. I love my laptop tho cuz im not confined to one room and dont have to stop what im doing to go outside for a smoke, I can sit in bed and chat or answer questions like i am now lol, but yea, its all about what you want and need.

It depends. If you travel a lot then of course a laptop. but if you will only be using the system at home then Desktop.
Laptops can be harder to deal with then a desktop,. They tend to over heat and break faster then desktops.

I got a state of the art laptop off ebay for $200 bucks, lots of memory, a bigger hard drive than my desktop, so laptop! just gets crazy when adding periphrial devices. But yeah, it's kind of scary even thinking of opening a laptop to upgrade and instsall something, so save some bucks to go to the profesionals to upgrade. But how many of us go in ourselves and upgrade our desktops, and how many times do u realy have to do that?

Depends on your usage.
I think if you want the more powerful machine for the money, then desktop.
But if you are moving around a lot, or you like to work at libraries or cafes, or even your couch or your bed, then laptop.
I think if you are surfing the web, checking email, doing word processing or excel stuff, then probably laptop. If you are playing games, then either, depends on you. Stuff like that. I think for most people, laptop is the better choice now.

Desktop is much better, faster and better in performance. And it is much cheaper too. It is good for gaming.
Get a laptop if you travel a lot and don't really care about speed or you are not a gamer.

only get a laptop if you will be using it on trains, parks and its for the office and home, if its just the normal home use, get the desktop, its cheaper to buy, cheaper to upgrade, cheaper to fix is somthing dies, and you dont have to worry about a battery dieing or only holding charge for 30mins
