I think you should do some research before stating a question. The Eastern European countries, since their independence are far from being the worst and poorest countries. Nor would I say the other countries that you have listed.

Well, in Estonia's case it might be because they have one of the fastest growing economy in Europe. Not bad for a country oppressed for so long by the Soviets. Also, throughout occupation and other hardships, Estonians have always maintained their independent spirit, national identity, and national pride.

Their pride has nothing to do with being in another country, it is about pride in their own country and people, something many other people / countries could learn from instead of taking their country for granted.

how do you define the word "worst"?

many countries, rich or poor, all have a very rich and colorful culture.

and anyways, most people are proud of their heritage...whether italian, portuguese, mexican, chinese, korean, vietnamese, polish, brazilian, etc. it doesn't matter whether the country is poor or not, and you can't change your heritage.

plus, when you are in the country of your heritage, there really is no point in going around saying "_________ PRIDE!!!" because people will be able to tell that you aren't a 'true' person of that country...and everyone is of that heritage there, so it's not really something that sets you apart from everyone else. but, when you're in america (or where ever you live), everyone is different, so your heritage makes you unique.

Oh man I envy them I really wnt to travel down those parts. I think the lack of money and general culture has brought them together in wonderful ways. The uniting amongst people are great. The happiness and pure driver for music and culture is a need a I really need.

Yes I agree lack of money and history look what we have been founded on? Gold rushes and stock markets. Poison.

YOu notice Islam doesn't give two craps about mexico!? Why?

Wrong. Look at the bumper stickers as you drive down the highways of the USA. And not just pride, arrogance. Look at the pee stickers; pee on this, pee on that, and then there are the same pee heads kneeling at a cross.
If you had any understanding of other countries you would understand that every nation takes pride in their country and should.
It is the greedy "Put America First", kill their president and steal their oil jerks that have made America a terrorist target. Arrogance.

Why do Americans hang flags in front of their homes and stick them on bumper stickers? Same reason.

It is an evolutionary behavior to choose teams(tribes). Originally it helped us survive, because being a part of a group is safer than being alone. For minorities, finding a troop is all the more instinctively important because they are outnumbered and need to find thier group for protection. Now that humans have evolved reason, we should see that this ancient tribal behavior is moot, and is not helping us, instead its causing strife, genocide and war. But this tribal behavior is still a deep rooted instinct. It is only through understanding it that we can find peace. Patriotism=tribalism=racism=in/group, out/grouping is dumb, we all share this world.

What is so wrong with pride?

It's because we know who we are and where we come from. We have beautiful cultures with art, resources, and an amazing history.

For example: Aztecs. A museum of gold artifacts made by Colombian Natives... and we display them!

Why are you so proud of being American?

Think about it.

I do not have statistics to prove your point of view but I have very rational belief that this statement can be more than hundred percent correct.

Are you surprised? I shall explain you the reasons.

- Poor are born with sever discriminatory environments. They grow with plenty of negative feelings and experiences. They are taught things forcefully and sometime inhumanly. Like in Muslim, women are forced to be in Burqua. People are forced to worship. It all depends on how much poor you are born.

- They are unable to understand their basic needs. They become master in abusing themselves as a human.

- They have all the relatives, friends, companions and associates who are ready to force them for their responsibilities without ever reminding them their authorities. Well educated people never do such things with their friends, relatives or coworkers.

- They hardly have courage and opportunities to change their background. They can not easily change their environment.

- They are attacked by other rich and well to do people easily when ever the poor people go week, which mostly is the occasion all the time.

These all accumulate to a firmer opinion, I believe and you should realize. This is dangerous for human growth. That's how I think this answers your question. So, can you start with a simple exercise?

Can a poor stop talking that he or she is born to continue living poor? Can poor stop making friend circle with all poor or negative people? Can poor tell their parents not to expect them to be poor throughout their lives? Can poor ever understand the meaning of education, opportunities, good life and luxury? They are born poor and they will die poor. They will do so till they are attached to their heritage. They are in a vicious circle. They ....

This place is short for the detail answer of this very socially valid and important question. If interested to know further, I have written details in www.lulu.com/content/231873

I have written a book on unlearn. I want to say this world. Can a poor unlearn to remain poor throughout their life. Can a deprived unlearn to remain deprived with their unwanted heritage? Unlearn!
