The quote may not completely help you with the meaning of the text. Identify the ways the quote does NOT help you.

Hope that helps! ♥

If I understand the assignment you are supposed to be using a quotation to help you understand a text you have read. Besides analyzing the text, the teacher wants you to include a discussion about the limits of the quotation helping you understand the text context. For example , the text and quotation may be from different points of view, different cultures,or different time periods.

This is a greatly simplified example: Let's say that another student is copying from your test. Since the teacher couldn't figure out which of you was cheating, both of you get an F. (This is the text) Your mother says, " Cheaters never prosper." ( That is the quotation.) When you are explaining the situation to a friend, you may use the quote to explain why the other student got what he deserved. However, the quotation has limited use because you don't feel it applies to you, since you also got an F and weren't actually cheating.(That's the limitation of the quotation.)
Hope this helps.

I'm assuming The Power of Myth is that ol' Bill Moyers special. Anyway, you're supposed to examine how the quote you chose is not applicable to the concept of the power of myth

Suppose you chose the quote form the Decleration of Independence about 'all men are created equal'. the limitation is that it excluded non-white males and women. You then apply this to the concept of how government has evolved to include these groups.
