s? It puzzles me that so many people hate Kobe Bryant, but respect Bill Clinton even though they committed the same offense.

I respect neither... both so-called role models have failed the American people and should spend the rest of thier existance appologizing to every child in America in person.

Same reason people criticize Clinton for cheating on his wife but over look the fact that Bush also cheated on his.
Could also have something to do with the fact that Kobe is just a basketball player, Clinton was president.
Or that Kobe was accused of rape. Clinton's was just a straight up affair.

First of all! Bill Clinton did respectable and honorable things before he cheated. As Kobe Bryant is a basket ball player, secondly they never proved that Kobe cheated so technically your question is irrelevant.

Because Bill had a consenting partner, before during and after. Kobe had an UNconsenting partner at some point-maybe before maybe after. Even the suggestion of rape turns people against the possible offender, sad but true.

The issue isn't cheating on their wives. The issue is consensual sex versus sexual assault. They did not commit the same offense.
