Yahoo can only use what you give it. This is your responsibility. You absolutely do not give out your SS number, credit card, etc. In fact, Yahoo continually reminds us that Yahoo will never ask for this so beware of imposters.

As for advertisers - of course your preferences are noted. Don't you get a ton of catalogs from stores you never heard of? It is a small price to pay for getting this free address from Yahoo, along with it's great toolbar, antispyware, popup blocker, references, etc.....As for the catalogs, some have helped me a lot. The others go in the paper box. No big deal.
