depends on how old your kids are.
preschool....toys that talk, interactive toys, shapes, building blocks
The most important thing for a childs development is change in enviroment and peer interaction.
Young kids learn mostly from watching others and figuring out how to adapt and act that will bennifit them the most.
Take your kid out to new places, travel if you can, go the the park, bowling, the pool.....
but toy wise, even bikes help. ... There have been studies that excercise promotes brain growth...
the brain blood flow increases which in turn help meet the demands for new synapsis to form. So along with figuring out problems and making new connections in the mind, excersize helps to feed the brain what it needs to grow, more blood.

Actually some of you are wrong...there are toys that build intelligence. Yes, adult interaction and books are also great tools to increase intelligence.
However, there are lots of educational toys, when played with alone, that encourage children to problem solve, think, and build pre-math and pre-reading skills. There are are many types of intelligences and educational toys can help build and advance them all.
Check out this site http://www.educational-toys-for-tots.com
This teacher does a great job of explaining multiple intelligences and how educational toys help kids.
Are toys the only thing that'll make your child smart?...no. A diversity of different "educational" toys plus interactions and literacy will make your child smart.

better then every toy is paling and speaking to them and with them, love is the best food for the brain and their should be distinction between spoiling the kids and loving them, they need attention patients, toys are just excuses for not loving them.

Learning a musical instrument makes them more coordinated and also helps with math skills. Piano is a good one to start off on.
