Very simple! Because they don't understand them. Liberals actually means open minded. This means that people who are not liberal (note that I didn't just say conservatives here) often don't see how someone can think about things with an open mind.

Fascism is all about the demonization of one group -- creating an "us versus them" environment that allows for the justification of any means necessary to control the populace.
An example -- Tom Delay and his republican cronies gerrymandering to keep the "evil liberals" from sharing power.
Fox News, talk radio, the 700 club -- they all have a conservative bent, and that's not a problem. The problem is that rather than expound on the virtue of conservative, they couch their rhetoric on the "horrible" liberal.
People have a strong tendancy to jump on whatever bandwagon passes by.

Are you kidding? Cause they are all ignorant. They sit around and tell each other lies and the more they hear the lies the more they believe them. Then they think that they are superior to everyone else. That and the fact that they never think for themselves. Good reasons not to like them
