i agree with grivalise. i was having the same problem. i would get a blinking screen like 80% the time, and 20% is the nefarious gray screen you mentioned.

i got a 72 pin connector on ebay and now all of my games work. of course, i _also_ picked up some security bits to open the nes games so i could clean them as well (with rubbing alcohol, like the one guy here already said)

Unfortunately, its rather difficult to fix your old nintendo. Most of the time its either the game (i doubt it), or the 72 pin adapter in the system itself... and you will normally have to completely replace it (dont worry its not expensive.)

Is it just a gray screen no matter what happens? No green lines, or other colors? It probably is the 72 pin adapter thin.. You may want to buy this kit: http://www.nintendorepairshop.com/shopexd.asp?id=78

And hopefully that will fix it.

Hopefully that helps :)

I can not Fix your Nes, But try WWW.Freeroms.com. They have Emulation Software for Old Game Consoles: Nes , Snes, Genisis, and Turbo grafx

i'd go with the emulator/roms package. NES 8 bits were very defective back in the day after a few months. i can hook you up with a package that has 2 emulators and hundreds of roms. even japanese releases that weren't americanized like shinobi... etc. email me at spyderguy29@yahoo.com and i'll reply with the package as an attachment.
