Does anyone know of a similar series? Another series of books I know and love is the Dragonriders by Anne McCaffrey. I would love to live on Pern, and sometimes I take mind vacations there when my own life gets too stressful.

Try the 'Gor' series by John Norman. It's 29 books long. The first five books are the best.

Start with 'Tarnsman of Gor' the first novel. The main character starts out on Earth, but is transported to the parallel world Gor, where he is a sort of warrior prince. Instead of horses, "Tarnsmen" ride through the air on "Tarns," giant hawks which are trained to attack.

Here's a link to the Amazon synopsis of the series:

Happy reading!!

I also love the Dragonrider series!!!
You may want to delve into Tamora Pierce
her Daine and Alanna series are excellent even though they are kind of pitched toward "girls" and I was embarrased to read the frilly covers in public...LOL.

Kim, try the Riddle Master of Hed trilogy. It's a great world to escape to.
