if you use instant messenger (AIM) instead of typing in a screen name to message, you can put the 10 diget phone number, preceeded by +1

if you go to your contact page on your e-mail the place where you type you contact info there should be a place where you put the number (i know because me and my sister do it all the time) sorry i cant help you more but i sure if you play around with the contact page youll find a way

if you have AIM, add your friend's phone number to your buddy list and IM her/him like it was a regular IM. If not, check www.cingular.com and see if they have options for texting. T-Mobile does.
