Import games on PS2 slim?

I have a PS2 slim version. I want to play Japanese games. I dont want to swap copies, or play burned games. I just want to play legit Japanese games. Is there a solder-less solution? Or would I just have to get a Japanese PlayStation 2? Thank you!
