- Suggest you check your startup menu. Removing some programs from startup might help speedup.
- When was the last time you did a home checkup? Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, Defrag, virusscan...
- Do you use a "busy" screensaver? Eats memory. Reset mine to blank.
- Go to Tools, Internet Options.
Clear Cookies, Delete files (offline), Clear History. Reset days to keep pages in
history to 0 unless you have reason to keep them for a while.
- - Click Start, Run type ipconfig renew (that’s ipconfig space renew) only takes a second.
- Games and videos are mostly graphics. Graphics create large files. You might need more memory.

It shouldn't. When you had a blackout your laptop was running off the battery. You probably have any number of problems.
First thing you should do is run your antivirus program. Next do a windows update to download any of the latest patches. Finally run a spyware program. If you don't have one, you can download one for free from www.download.com. Adaware is a good free one.
Your laptop should be good at this point unless you have a more serious issue.

If your computer is running slow, there could be many causes to the problem. A few common causes are Windows registry errors, bad RAM memory, and disk fragmentation. When was the last time you cleaned your Windows registry? Over time, you install new programs, uninstall programs, update software, install new devices, etc. which will all modify records in the Windows registry. Cleaning up your Windows registry will usually help to speed up your computer. Additionally, a Registry Cleaner can fix errors you are running into when launching programs. I would recommend registry cleaning as a first step.

Defrag. It works like a charm. Also, get rid of all the stuf you don't want anymore - do that before you defrag.

Delete all cookies, temporary Internet files, run spy ware and scan for viruses, and defragmentate your main drive. This has to be done occasionally for your computer to run fast.

A virus will cause the computer to run slow. Do you have security on your computer?
