100% Yes. Harry Potter and Other occultic forms of media are finding it's way up in this world. This is a way in which the devil can enter into our minds children or adult alike. It not only makes us believe but it influences us in many ways directly or indirectly. Just be cautious of everything that entertains.

Well first of all how can you make a judgement of something without experiencing it first. Harry Potter is fiction. If it was JK Rowlings intention to delude the minds of children into the work of the Devil then she would have made that part of her story very clear.
Magic in all its forms had been in our literature since the dawn of literature. Beowulf, the Lais de Marie de France, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, The Arthurian Legend, Shakespeare's Plays, The Wizard of OZ, Lord of the Rings and etc have some elements of magic and fantasy in them.
Beowulf battles a dragon.
A werewolf falls in love with a peasent woman.
Sir Gawain's foe seems immortal.
Arthur's closest advisor is a conjurer.
Shakespeare's Prospero in the Tempest is one too.
Though the Wizard wasn't magic, Glenda and the Ruby slippers were.
We've all seen the Lord of the Rings.
Harry Potter, like those others, is just a story written to entertain. Albeit the stories have become more dark in their plot, but who ever said chasing the Wicked Witch of the West was some happy frolic in the woods.
Read the books, see the movies if you see the Satanic in them then you'll find it. Because, seek and you shall find.

First of all, there is a difference between magic and magick. Magic is with a magician, it's all smoke and mirrors kind of stuff. Magick is performed by Wicca and some Pagans. This kind of magick is the Wicca equivalent to praying--they are trying to make things better in their life, they are trying to communicate with the Divine, they are trying to rid their homes of negative feelings, they are trying to find love, etc.
Secondly, there is no such thing as black magick. The magick only becomes dark if it is performed with the intention of hurting someone or some other evil. Wicca/witches to not perform this kind of magick. The only people I can imagine practicing this kind of magick are Satanists (who don't necessarily believe in Satan, the whole religion is just based on helping yourself, etc.).
Some Christians may believe that magick is evil frankly, these people need to stop being so paranoid as they were the ones who burned people at the stake for doing nothing wrong.
Harry Potter can show the difference between good and evil but it doesn't really show the difference between magick and black magick because what they are doing isn't really magick. Saying one word and waving a wand doesn't do anything so how can it be evil? Do people honestly believe their children are going to learn black magick from Harry Potter?! If so, those people need more help than I think anyone can give them. Harry Potter may make children use their imagination -gasp- and think outside of the little box once in a while. Oh, and what exactly does occult have to do with black magic(k)? (Nothing!) What exactly is wrong with occult?

OK LOOK!
Harry Potter does not turn kids minds with dabbling with the occult and black magic. it is a book. there are millions of books out there about magic and supernatural. do kids go out and pick up sticks and try to cast evil spells after reading any of them? No. if anything when they do pretend about the book, and i emphisise the word PRETEND. its about the good magic. Think about it yourself. Does reading Cinderella inspire little girls to clean and scrub for their sisters waiting each day for her fairy godmother and prince charming... no they understand the differenece between real and make believe.
If a child is old enough to read a book such as harry potter. then they are old enough to understand the difference. and the way JK Rowling presents the evil side of magic, the child would have to already be seriously demented to want to dabble in the dark arts, or as you put it, the occult and black magic.
Yes children may be fasinated with the books, and wish that there is still magic somewhere in this world. but hoping for magic is not a bad thing. we all wish for some form of magic, and magic surrounds us. Good magic... its called Love. If anything Harry Potter broadens their horrizons and teaches them the difference between good an evil.

"The Christian Meaning: The Harry Potter books do not offer a generic 'good over evil' message. Ms. Rowling writes the powerful, spiritual answer in story form to mankind's larger questions in the only language even a post Christian culture can understand: she writes in the symbols and doctrines of the Christian faith. Harry Potter fans enjoy a resurrection experience in every book and are awash in word pictures and images of Christ and souls in pursuit of perfection in Him. Without this specific meaning, Rowling could not have achieved her unprecedented popularity in a culture that only knows of God in these forms."
That was a section from an essay by John Granger, who also wrote "Finding God in Harry Potter".

God has allowed these books to become widely popular, and we have to ask ourselves why.
JK Rowling is a Christian, and her faith resonates throughout the Harry Potter books. I teach at a Christian school, and I can honestly say that kids discussing Harry Potter are getting the Christian meaning of these books. Sacrificial love conquers evil. Choosing to do what is right, even if it means losing or dying. Despite the desire within us to do evil, we can choose to do what is right. In the face of death, we can look to God to get the help we need (read "Chamber of Secrets" and "Goblet of Fire" for the most obvious allusions to this).
The movies are a bit "fluffy" compared to the books. So much is cut from the books, that a lot of the depth and Christian meaning gets lost in them. JK Rowling started writing without any knowledge that the books would become so popular...she had a story to tell, and she is telling it. The movies on the other hand, were started AFTER the craze, and are clearly the usual fare of Hollywood trying to make money.

I am a teacher's assistant in a middle school library. Harry
Potter books are real big here only because they have quizzes
students can take to get a lot of points. Most of the students
who read the Harry Potter books do so because they find
the stories interesting. I haven't had one student yet ask about
books on black magic, casting spells or the occult. They just like
the stories because they are "cool".

I heard that the vatican has deem it so !
I feel if one doesn't the show to heart and don't put to much into the series then the reverance to the remark satantic is bunk.
If Potter and his friends were doing something worse. The dark arts master is abouot the only one there who is closely there and he doesn't really do al that bad himself. I would probably say if was close. As you put it black art and white same as white voodoo and black voodoo.White is still classified as evil, but many say it's better than black voodoo.I myself read up on this kind of stuff and do my own astrology.Doesn't make me a bad person.
Believe in God and not the devil, I say!

Ahh FYI chronic christian: not all magick is black. Magick does not equal satanism u fool. There are many types n traditions which involve the practice of magick n ritual. Besides that i wish u bloody closed minded christians would finally realise that satan and the devil are your inventions!!!!! Paganism recognised the existence of the dark side of nature before your pack of fools misconstrued and violated our practices. However the dark side is only a part of the whole: everything in nature has an equal opposite, everything!dark-light, day-night, sun-rain. Are you gonna go around censoring nature because you cant get your lil pee brain to fit it into your lil warped universe? Good luck and I hope you find life outside needing to label and judge cuz holy **** your gonna have a miserable freakin life if you don't!!!

You need to stop reading so much into the books. They are great books that actually get kids to read. That is not an easy task in this day and age. J.K.Rowling should be congratulated for her good work. Not torn down because people just don't get It.

harry potter does not turn people to magic or devil worship. he is, however, not the best role model for young kids because he is hot-tempered and a rule breaker who tells adults to shut up. but he is certainly not in league with the devil
