Can it be reversed or is it like trying to stop a freight train coming down a hill?

because its cheaper not to care...and easier.
they think they've got all they can handle, so why not let others take care of it....so if everyone thinks like this, this way nothing gets done. besides they'll be dead soon so why should they bother??you know? until global warming comes to their house and threatens to kill them they wont do anything.
i bet there is a way to reduce the CO2 in the atmosphere, just not yet (we could also try reducing our emmissions but again its more cost efficient not to)...until EVERYONE starts to really care and cooperate, we are doomed to a pretty bleak future.

I don't know if it can be reversed. The polar ice is melting at three times the rate it was just 10 years ago. The Earth's continents of ice help reflect some of the sun's energy back into space. If the Earth's albedo (reflection index) gets too low, the Earth will heat up, the ice will melt even faster, round and round in a vicious circle, until the oceans start to boil.

I would like to think it can be reversed. I wish I knew. I don't think anybody does. Maybe it will reverse when the Earth runs out of fossil fuel to burn.

It's not a first priority for the government because it's not a first priority for the voters.
I believe that many experts agree that global warming cannot be reversed. It is a natural occurring process that does need to be slowed down.

Reputable science has reached the conclusion that global warming is happening and that the major cause is man's activities. Exactly how it will proceed in terms of increase in ocean water levels and world climate changes seems to be uncertain. The technologically fixes are being developed but will take time and investment to implement. It is no use pretending that the problem can be solved overnight without stalling the economy.

Because the government can't do anything about it. It's like the government once tried to make math easier for children by passing a law that pi = 3.000... instead of 3.14159... The only trouble is, if you try to bake a pie in a govenment constructed pi-pan all the filling will leak out the gap where the edges don't meet.

There are many more immediate problems. There is serious question that anything can be or should be done about global warming. The solutions that have been proposed mostly don't address the alleged problem, they merely serve to try to weaken our country and our economy (e.g., the Kyoto accord).

The is no evidence whatsoever of global warming caused by man's use of fossil fuel and increased CO2 levels. In fact, CO2 levels increase after, not before, temperatures rise... and there is no clear evidence that the short term temperature risk during the second half of the 20th century represents anything more than a change in the range of other historical changes.

1. because the american government is in league with oil interests and has systematically lied to the public about the reality of global warming.
2. because americans put their nations economic advantage above everything including the environment they live in and depend on. their government realise this and is willing to indulge the greed and selfishness of americans as long as its to their advantage to do so.

There are several reasons. Not the least of which is the fact that everyone is so busy trying to push THEIR version of “truth” that the facts stay hidden. Don’t worry, once it gets bad enough, the world will take action itself to correct the problem.
