Nothing is better than breastmilk. Even the best formula will never be as healthy, as easy to digest, or as comforting and satisfying as breastmilk. Breastmilk contains live antibodies and enzymes. It is constantly changing to meet the needs of the baby as he/she grows and protecting and aiding their developing immune system. No formula can do that!
Only about 5% of women in the world can't breastfeed due to a physical or health problem, it just takes a lot of patience and practice sometimes. (I should know, since my son and I had to use a nipple shield for the first four months to help with latch-on). With the proper help, most women who say they "couldn't" breastfeed, most likely could. Call La Leche League for one on one help and support from other mothers. Babies really prefer it as well. It is also very beneficial to the mom; more convenient, always ready, always available, and helps protect against breast cancer.

My 6 month old has had alot of problems with reflux and weight gain. Her GI doctor was always changing the formula (GoodStart Soy, Pregestimil, Similac Alimentum and a few others I can't remember now) and nothing was working. He changed it to Neocate Infant and her weight gain is improving more. But she's still refluxing. WIC will only cover it because the GI doctor sent in forms letting them know that my baby needed it. I'm on WIC and thank goodness for it. Neocate is way too expensive for us to pay for.
She was on breast milk for almost the first 3 weeks of her life. But due to all the stress I was under (she was born with a heart defect and had her repair surgery when she was 3 days old.) , I couldn't produce enough for her and had to stop.

Nestle Good Start is the best! It has comfort proteins for the baby and with my three kids, we tried the Enfamil and Similac and it was hard on their stomachs, caused lots of gas, etc. So my doctor told me to try Good Start and it has been wonderful! Plus it is a few dollars cheaper than Enfamil too! Good luck!!

WIC only covers Enfamil Lipils unless your pediatrician says baby needs something different. Enfamil is a wonderful brand. A lot of hospitals will ask you which you are going to use, they tried to start my son on Similac, but I went with the Enfamil because I was on wic. It was wonderful. I only burped my son like 4 times in his life! ha ha !

Breast milk is the best but if you would like to switch to formula I would say Good Start , its real close to breast milk , and its less expensive than the others. My daughter is 4 mths old and she was on enafil and kept throwing it up now she's on good start and its actually staying in her tummy

Formula is sooo regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, so it is truely all the same. The expensive brands are expensive bc they pay for lots of advertising and to convince parents that they are getting something better!
People who convince themselves that their baby can only take a specific brand are just people who must always have a explanation for everything! Sometimes babies have gas, spit up, won't eat, etc, but it is very very rarely bc of the brand of formula they are eating.
Ask your doctor.

Most pediatricians start babies on Similac with iron but if the baby has problems with it they will change it as needed. I do believe the generic formulas are really the same - just less expensive due to the name brand.

Costco own Kirkland brand. It has exactly the same ingredients as similac and Enfamil. It even compares them on the side. You get 2 tins for $19.75. My daughter has had zero problems on this and is growing fast and healthy.
