I felt "A Separate Peace" was pretty good. Some people dismiss it as a "young adult" book, but it's an excellent and thoughtful look at friendship and competition amongst peers. It's not thrilling or hilarious or anything like that, but you'll walk away thinking about the characters. Furthermore, it's a pretty brief and easy story to get through if I remember correctly, so you might as well try it!

It was one of the most powerfull books I ever read. I remember after I finished it for the first time I just sat there for about half an hour contemplating it. The ending was surprising and traumatic, but it is what made it such a great book. It gave me a different outlook on life.

I liked it a lot when I read it. My English teacher hates it. On amazon, you can read about it being about them being gay, I don't really think so.
