Im in the low 70s right now and when scouts see me in 2 years i want to be throwing mid-eightes. What kind of program shoud i do daily or every other day. Should i lift alot? Should i just throw or are their certain drills i should do? Should i seek out a coach to help me or is this obtainable by myself. Is this kind of increase even possible? I really want to pitch in college so any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

Please listen to me if you want to become a better pitcher!!

I faced the same problem as you, I was a sophmore in High School with a fastball around 80mph and a really good change up and curve. I had alot of potential, but I new that if I wanted to pitch in college, which I did, I need a better fastball.

Do not lift weights!! The muscles that are used to throw a baseball are not muscles that are benifted from bench press and other common wieght lifting methods. All this does is hurt your arm in the long run.

First find a coach/friend/relative that will be devoted to making you a better pitcher. Play 15 mintes of long toss ( I mean 50-75 yards) every other day you are not pitching (everyday in the offseason). This will build up tremendous arm strength and durability.

Also, practice practice practice. I know it sounds cheesy, but it is what made me a succsusful division 2 pitcher.

Good Luck

12-18 mph is ambitious but not our the question. Others are right don't lift weights to improve your radar gun. The key to speed is mechnics not pure arm strength. A good pitching coach can help you with this immensly, he will teach you things such as leg drive and arm angle all things that make a huge difference in velocity. Good Luck

im a jounier in highschool that has a mid eightys fastball, a changeup that i can have break in or out, a curve that has been compared to barry zito, a splitter that gets 6-8 in of drop, and a knuckle in the works, ive been scouted by texas sieince last year, the best way to increase velocity is play catch every OTHER day, so you dont strain your arm

I suggest HGH as well, plus massive doses of steroids. Work out night and day. Get expert coaching. And learn the knuckleball just in case.
