I've been wondering, why do people hug and kiss each other? What started this "tradition", this "sign of affection"?

Back when humans lived in caves or garden of eden. It is a way to show affection, unspoken affection, appreciation, admiration, thankfulness, acceptance nonverbally.

People feel comfort when loved ones touch them. It is a security thing...like an arm around your back in a scary movie.

Kissing and hugging is just an extension of this need to touch.

People need people.....hugging feels good and gives off endorphins which makes you feel good.
