why does it happen? Is it because they're hot or simply the lack of bra?

They are cold, turned on, or stimulated by the rubbing on their shirts/underwear.
The erector muscles due to cold or hormonal influence in the area make the skin stand up and harden/rise up...thus the popping of the nipple.

Sammyleggs has got it - oh yeah, and the lack of a bra (or at least one padded enough to prevent others from being able to tell when they're nipping).

even with a bra - nipples can show.
sometimes we're cold, sometimes it just IS!
get over it.

Womans nipples go hard when theyre either turned on, or 99.9% of the time its because theyre cold.

it's usually cause there cold or they have no bra or a combination of thin bra and really cold girl

I want to vote for 'Hot' but suspect it's just 'bra-less'.
I'm 56 years old & besides a very very few brief 'incidents' & that 'wardrobe malfunction', I'm wondering if it's just an urban myth! [+2!] :-)

No, it means they are either cold or nervous. Happens a lot. lol.
