This is just like the best baseball movie ever. With the exception of the person who answered Brian's Song...excellent choice by the way; it seems no one has seen a move made before 1980.
My vote goes to The Jim Thorpe Story with Burt Lancaster.
Not only was he named the greatest athlete of the first half of the 20th century, he also won 2 Olympic Gold medals in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. One for the pentathlon and the other for the decathlon...done on consecutive days. Never done before or since. Later stripped from him and only recently returned to his family and placed back in the record books.

I liked the Replacements as well, but the best football movie ever is North Dallas Forty.

Well I don't know if you would count this but mine is The Last Boyscout with Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans, I know football isn't the main thing but football has quite a bit to do with it. If that doesn't count I would have to say Remeber the Titans.
