I have had my period for at least 1 year now. But then it wouldn't come as often as it use to. Now its been 2 months now and i'm worried. Is it because i'm athletic and i play soccer and cross country? What can i do?

I agree with what Angel said. If your body mass and body fat is not high enough and your metabolism and activity level is high, your body will stop you from having a menstrul cycle because it does not want you to get pregnant with a baby your body can not support.

For the first two to four years your period will come at abnormal times due to your body ajusting to it hormonally. Plus my friend is a very active girl, on the soccer/golf/baseball/cross country/track teams and her doctor has told her that it is normal for a very active YOUNG woman to have abnormal periods during active phases of the physical year. But you should still see a doctor to rule out any true probalms. Hope this helps.

First of all....how old are you? Second, what is your body weight in the spectrum of average, too thin, overweight etc. I do know, based on reading information on eating disorders (not that I am insinuating that you may have one - just hear me out) that if you have low body fat and/or are highly active, your body has to basically save it's energy...having your period, takes energy and you lose nutrients due to bleeding. Your period stopping, because you are so active...is completely normal...the only way to "get it back"....is to lessen your physical activity or to begin taking protein or weight gainer supplements....however DO NOT start a supplement without talking with your doctor about your needs, concerns, etc. Your doctor can help you to best decide what the best option will be for you in this area. I am not a doctor so I cannot give advice, but I can share what I have learned in my own time. If you do not beleive me you can use google to ask your question or look up sites on women's health issues.

Are you sure your are not pregnant? I was very athletic, i did figure skating, horse riding, swimming etc, but i never had a problem like that. 2 months is a long time, you should go and see your doctor.

You period can change depending on you diet and activity. So if have changed what you've been eating then that could play a role in it (have you started school). As long as you haven't had unprotected sex then I wouldn't woory about it.

if you do not have a reason to think you are pregnant I would not worry too much. Sometimes it can be because you are not eating enough. go to doctor or health clinic for a check up. I thought atheletes had to do that anyway.
