The Lou Gehrig Story starring Gary Cooper.
Unlike some of the other interesting movies listed this was based on a true ball player, actually had Babe Ruth and other ball players in the movie and being filmed in black and white (really they made movies before 1980) with out all the FX of today makes it a true baseball film master piece.

I would say 61*. Even though Mark did steroids and it ruined the ending. I bet you would get a lot of Feild Of Dreams answers though. I liked 61* because it was a true story. *Micky Mantle was the greatest baseball player ever.* Babe was donimant because he could hit. Micky was an all around player. He was a good guy and he was funny.
* IF he could keep his health up and not be drinking and covering up his injuries.

Depends what you want. If you want a comedy you have to go with Major League. If you want a drama go with The Natural. If you want a classic try Field of Dreams, 61, or Angels in the Out Field. If you want one with a good moral and a sad ending Hard Ball is your movie.
With that said my favorite is The Natural.

Without any doubt whatsoever it is "The Natural." The ending of this movie and its mythology are unquestionably the finest in all of sports movies. If you are a baseball fan, just hearing the score will give you goosebumps.

The only one I liked was the 1970's version of the Bad News Bears. That was a good and fun to watch movie

I vote for "The Natural" with "The Rookie" a close second.
Shows an honest look at some people will do to achieve their dreams even though long past the (sports) accepted age.
