If you want something reliable, then go for a toyota or a honda. They last the longest!
Try the Honda Civic. It is a great car.

I'd go for either the VW or even a Toyota, Honda and anything else imported.
I've had/owned many cars and always was a domestic buyer. I've had really bad results with the last three, yes three purchases!
This has made me believe that I won't buy a New domestic again.

disregard america-hating chuckle heads who say don't buy
American. They would love to see this country fail.
Next point:
There are too many possibilities for 20k.
Personally I would consider the 0% financing for 72 mos that
Ford is offering right now. This is a good time of the year
to buy a car. Although you mentioned you're looking towards next year.
Here is my pic for best value under 20k:
Hyundai Sonata.

in short, do not! i could be very careful of utilising credit of any variety to purchase a automobile, and that i easily does not be utilising a mastercard as section or complete charge. while you're 20 & residing at domicile, you may desire to have the potential to maintain sufficient over an particularly short quantity of time to have the potential to discover the money for to purchase a automobile outright. Many young infants purchase autos on finance and then spend years paying the debt back, frequently long after the motor vehicle has been consigned to the scrap backyard. it would desire to look tempting to have the potential to get a extra modern-day or extra costly automobile than you could fairly discover the money for, yet you would be saddled with the payments for years.

If you are into Pontiacs, I'd go for a G6, they're good for the family and still has pretty good power to have fun with, they start at around 17k so you have some room to get some nice options.
