Please only answer if you know and follow football cos' if u tuned in just for the world cup you opinion means nothing!
Did the new strictness of referees ruin the world cup. for example players where being sent off for barely touching players during tackles. shouldnt referee disgretion become more frequent allow a game to flow more when appropriate and players punished when neccassary rather when a rule was "technically" broken???
also did the play acting/diving of teams with another skill to be able play fairly and still win annoy anyone as much as me, i.e. italy, france, brazil, argentina etc

the refs in the world cup varied. there were those that would let the game play itself out and the others would control the game. this year way too many refs were abusing their power and the game would revolve around not gettin a penalty instead of trying to get a goal. n yes the acting is gettin ridiculous but the players seem to be gettin better @ it so i expect to see more in 4 years.

I am a referee (but not world cup). I think that the game has been getting dirtier and dirtier for a long time. It is good that the referees are enforcing the rules. If they are enforced at the highest levels the calls at the lower levels are questioned less. The game is not supposed to be dirty.

Nelson De von probably heard that FIFA are testing the two- referee idea on the field and a fifth linesman. A lot is being missed on the pitch as we all witnessed at the World Cup. France is not known for being a dirty team.

i've said it before & i'll say it again they should bring in instant video replay,we are in the 21 st century its about time.have you noticed the earphone/mikes the refs were wearing this year.you can bet your life that they were in direct contact with fifa officials who were watching from tv station control rooms where they have probably 20 tv screens.i remember 3 specific games where i noticed the ref "change his tune" during the course of those 3 games. changes are happening ,i just hope they go all the way & do it right.

FIFA really put a lot of pressure on the refs to cut back on dirty play... FIFA should have backed off a little. The refs are professionals and should have been left to do their job the way they know how.

the bloody italy players dive everytime there were tackled against the socceroos (australia), they did it in the 90th min against australia and won a free kick, and won the game. australia would have won the game if not for that and the world cup. bloody italy
