youre telling me. how ironic to see this question today, i just got a call an hour ago that my little sister is pregnant. and she didnt use protection. the answer to your question is : ovbiously not enough sexual education in schools.
I 'm a nurse and she didnt even listen or take my advice. if you dont hear it in school, its never too late to try and teach youth later on. Please teach your kids or younger relatives. My sister will now be tied down the rest of her life. Dont make the same mistake. Use your head. Not having sex isnt the end of the world. 1 min of pleasure isnt worth a lifetime of having a child if you arent prepared.
Good luck to all, and if you must, use protection, it doesnt hurt to spend the time learning about safety. Besides, if you dont want to spend time researching safe sex, then you aren't mature enough to have sex!

It's just the way things are now.

In the UK, the way the benefits system is structured creates a situation where becomming young parents can actually be a viable career path. Especially when you factor in an appallingly low minimum wage and limited job prospects in some areas. Young women who go out to work struggle just to make ends meet, and have precious little chance of making it to even the first rung of the housing ladder. Their prospects are dire, to say the least.

On the other hand, young women who become single parents move straight to the top of the list for public housing and live rent and council tax free. It is quite feasible for a young woman with a kiddie to be financially better off than a young woman with no kids who works.

Mind you, if you look at the demographics of the UK you can see a method in the madness. We're an ageing nation. For the first time in six or seven decades the number of people over 65 is greater than the number of people under 16, and over time this will lead to a significant imbalance between the net contributors and the net withdrawers. Efforts have been made to offset the situation by embracing the vile European union and opening the gates to every wandering miscreant under the sun. But the resultant cultural divisions are creating far more problems thn they are solving.

This nation needs new stock. And it needs new stock fast.

So for now, at least, we need the babies to have babies.

It's grim, but inevitable.

Is it possible that in some places in your country the same situation is becoming manifest?

Because everyone wants to be an 'adult', not realizing what comes with that desire. Children need to be children while they have the chance and not to be in such a hurry to grow up because if you ask most people who made those mistakes they would say they wished they could go back and be a kid again.

The only way to slow this down is by education. Help children learn that sex is not something you just do on a whim, but should be carefully thought about, including the consequences of an unwanted pregnancy. Parents should teach their children, by example, not by 'because I said so'. Teach them a better way.

Well I have no idea what could slow it down but I know I started having sex because I felt like i needed someone to complete me and to make me whole. And I know for sure its because I felt trapped and held in because my mother is very over protective. And I think im pregnant now and Im only 15 Ill be 16 in Nov.And I regret every munite of it.And I just wish I could go back.So I dont know why others are doing it but I do know it was because I felt like I needed something else there.

Mostly lack of parenting, but a lot of it has to do with money. People think that because they don't have money they would rather not spend what little they do have on condoms and birth control, and they don't realize that there are programs out there to help them. these programs are not exploided very much, thats why! Any in some case childern are having babies because no one cares about them, so they think if they have a baby then they will have someone to love and be loved by. It's sad but true.

Because parents don't talk to their kids openly about sex and birth control. I know my mother never did and I had my first daughter at 18. When I got pregnant my mom was like why didn't you come to me for birth control. Parents need to stop being embarrassed and start asking questions and making sure that their kids can open up to them about sex. I know when my daughters come of age we are going to talk candidly about sex and they will be placed on the pill, not because I am encouraging bad behavior but because I don't want them to get themselves into any trouble. Babies are having babies because parents aren't as involved as they used to be like back in the 50s and such. That's just how I feel.

these kids are only taught abstinence in school. tell them NO NO NO long enough, and they want to know what all the fuss is about. yeah they KNOW about protection...but because it's discouraged they don't USE IT...then we all sit back and wonder HOW these "babies" are having babies..well DUH! when it comes to sex our teens don't know ANYTHING about how to protect themselves, from pregnancy or disease.
education is POWER, why not empower them by teaching them how to protect themselves. I'm not suggesting that we just "let them at it!" but id rather my children WRAP IT UP! than just hope that the "abstinence only" BS works.
i was teen once..I'm not brain dead! so why the hell are we acting like our kids are?
no sex is best...but no choices when they DO break the rules is insane!
our kids are paying for OUR ignorance!

It's called sex education....PLUS...parents need to discuss life in general with their kids instead of expecting them to learn everything from the TV.
