I don't know where you fit in all of this. What I mean is are you friend, nephew etc...to the parents that just had the baby? Without knowing exactly where you fit in all of this, I can only answer this in a general way. It sounds like you may be envious of the baby, because the attention is focused more on the baby. It also seems that you're very angry. Again, depending on where you fit in, some of these feelings are normal. Anyways I don't know the whole story but you may try talking to the parents on how you feel and/or get more involved with the baby. Don't forget it is their first child. One day you may be a father and know that wonderful feeling of having your own son or daughter. Hope you work things out!

"why must i keep hearing about the new baby?"

Are these new parents your only friends?
Knowing that they talk about their baby all the time, why do you keep going back for conversation? They obviously have more important things to do now then listen and cater to you and your needs. Sorry, either find a new friend who needs company as badly as you do or shut up and get over it.

Selfish conversationalists?
Coming from someone who wants their friends to do nothing but listen to him, thats funny!

New parents are proud and happy they have a baby. they will never be the same friends you had pre-baby. thats what happens when people grow up and most new parents weed out people like you in the first year anyway... dont worry they won't feel the need to talk to you for long.

Because it's a new and exciting thing that takes up much of their time and conscious mind. I am sure if you expressed that you feel like you aren't getting to add to the conversation in a tactful or thoughtful way, they'd probably understand. They may not even be aware that they are so monomaniacal about it. At worst, you may need to take a break from talking to them for a while until things have settled down.

When you have a new baby your life is that baby. Changing feeding burping and coddling, is 24/7. For most parents there isn't anything else to talk about!

and you're question would be??? New parents they talk a lot about the baby because they are excited and nervous all at the same time. It's very hard to have a baby!! Suddenly, you're responsible for anothers life, pretty serious stuff

WHY ARE U SOO DERN RUDE??? If you had a baby, then you would see why new parents talk about their new baby all the time. I am a new mommy and my lilttle girl is 3 months old, and there is NOTHING better to talk about then her. So why don't you just GET A FREAKIN HEART???

Well pardon the Hell out of me for being so happy about a baby that we have been trying for, for the past 7 years.

Just excuse yourself and walk away if you don't wanna hear about it. No one is really forcing you to listen.

Bet your parents are really proud of you. (in case you missed it, that was meant to be sarcastic.)

Grow up!

You must not be a mother.

When you experience this, you will talk about it too. I never thought I would be like this, but this change is inevitable.

Try to be supportive of your friends who want to talk about their baby. At least they have something in their lives worth being happy about, and something that makes them feel special and proud. If you care about these people, you should celebrate it, instead of being so negative.
